Healthier Living - It's Good For Life?

Living longer and healthier lives has been the quest of people dating back to the Pharaohs. Convalescent homes are being built faster than our national debt! The dictionary's definition of convalescent is "a place and period of recuperation". Have you ever visited a convalescent home? I have, and unfortunately it is really a place to go to be treated for afflictions and recuperation. Most of these dear people die there! This is what our society calls "humane and compassionate"; most of us would rather be shot out of a cannon than end up there. Our senior years don't have to be spent there; they can be spent living longer and healthier lives!

Let's explore our options on how we may live longer and healthier lives. Society has become sedentary, out of shape and overweight! This is a formula for disaster. Our health care costs have sky rocketed, due to many reasons. The area I want to focus on in this article is my first in a compelling series on how to live longer and healthier lives by following the right formula.

If you have read my articles on physical and mental fitness you know I am a fitness and goals oriented guy. Part of this formula is to make the time to set up a regular workout schedule and stay on it. Go back and read my articles on achieving physical and mental fitness. The "great American diet" is bad enough to kill off a herd of healthy horses. We have more fast food restaurants springing up faster than politicians' lies! Most of you know that I am a believer in the 40-30-30- Plan-probably the best food planning and weight control program available. I have followed this food plan for years, along with my regular workout routine. I'm still in good shape! The 40-30-30- Plan is basically 40% carbohydrate, 30% protein, 30% fat, and is easy to understand and follow. There are many 40-30-30-Plans online that you can read about-choose you favorite and begin to follow it. I won't take your time now to go into the details, other than to encourage you to get started today and start living longer and healthier lives!

Look at the labels on food you are considering buying at the market. You will be shocked at how much fat and sugar the product contains. So pay attention to the food you purchase for yourself and your family. Start eating smart and get on the path to living longer and healthier lives. Cheers!
